It is the last house on a tranquil cul-de-sac, overlooking the tropical rainforest. No A/C. Large screen windows keep the house well ventilated, naturally lit, and keep the mosquitoes out! The location of the house paired with its architectural designs allow the sounds of the tropical rainforest to infiltrate the house.
This house has three spacious bedrooms and two bathrooms. The living room has ample space to relax and spread out in; it has thirteen screened windows that allow for great airflow and have views of the tropical rainforest. The kitchen is well equipped with different cooking appliances. The house has a beautiful new deck off the living room and a patio down below with a charcoal grill that looks onto the garden. Start your mornings on the deck under the Espavé (wild cashew) tree. Enjoy an afternoon drink on the patio and watch for birds and other wildlife.

Is it best to get groceries before arriving in Gamboa?
Yes. Please think about food before arriving to BirdNest. It is best to stop at a grocery on your way to Gamboa. If you are coming from Tocumen International Airport, El Rey a Las Centennial is a great place to stop to get groceries. Once you get to Gamboa, the nearest grocery store is 20 km away! There is a small connivence store that is a 7-minute walk from the house where simple staples and cold beer can be purchased during limited store hours.
Is this house one of the original Canal Zone homes?
Yes. This house is a typical Canal Zone house. Built by the US Corp of Engineers, the house's design optimizes large screened windows and huge overhanging eves to create cool cross ventilation breezes; these architectural elements keep the house at a cool temperature without the need of A/C. This beautiful house stands on stilts--a common feature of tropical architecture. This elevated nature has several effects: decreases humidity, increases airflow, and decreases noxious bugs like mosquitoes.
